Larry is Beach Street’s Chief Development Officer and has more than 30 years of national and international development and management experience including surf destinations. Prior to joining Beach Street, Larry worked with Beach Street founding partner John Luff on the Wai Kai development on Oahu. Larry was the Director of Retail and Resort Development for Haseko Hawaii, owner of the 1,200-acre master planned development in West Oahu.  The oceanfront Wai Kai project located within the overall Hoakalei resort opened in May of 2023 and includes the world’s largest deep-water standing surf wave, along with stand-up paddling, kayaking and other water activities on the adjacent 52-acre lagoon. The project also includes the Kitchen Door restaurant featuring a Michelin awarded chef, the LookOut restaurant offering a front-row view of the surf action, a large events lawn area, Foam Coffee & Bar and a private club on a boardwalk overlooking Hoakalei’s Wai Kai Lagoon, and Sessions retail shop geared to the waterman lifestyle.

 

Immediately prior to working with Haseko, Larry was the Senior Development Manager for DeBartolo Development. While with DeBartolo Larry developed Ka Makana Ali’i, a regional shopping mall in West Oahu that included more than 600,000 square feet of retail and a 150 room Hampton Inn and Suites.  Direct responsibilities included development proforma budgeting and analysis, hiring and management of design consultants, design development, value engineering, on-site and off-site entitlements, negotiation of construction contracts, construction management for shell and tenant improvements, tenant coordination from delivery through project opening, and operations coordination through turnover.  The project has over 100 local and national tenants including Macy’s, H&M, Consolidated Theatres, Cheesecake Factory, Hollister, American Eagle, Victoria’s Secret, Bath & Body Works, California Pizza Kitchen, Sketchers, Rip Curl, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Foot Locker, Old Navy, Sephora, 24-hour fitness, and many others.
